This garden on the side of the Ewyas Harold Common was a very steep slope that was hard to manage and maintain. The owners wanted something they could work with, and loved the ‘cottage garden’ style. Justin Jones Landscapes & Gardens managed to cut several terraces into the slope, and created a walk-through space with sun room and circular pathways accessed from a new sleeper stairway from the rear patio. We embarked on extensive planting of native wild flower species to create a very organic, natural meadow arrangement in this garden bordering the open space of the common, which is a fantastic butterfly habitat. Hopefully the butterflies will approve of the flowering plants in summer.

Award Winning Vegetable Plot
You reap what you sow
Part of this garden design included raised beds and fruit cages so the owners could grow their own fruit and vegetables. We built the raised beds into the hillside with railway sleepers. The fruit cages even received recognition recently by winning an award.
